The following information is drawn from Enterprise episodes, novels, and short stories, except where otherwise noted. Speculative dates are marked as such, and explanations are given. This information is not intended to be authoritative, merely a guide, and other interpretations of events are possible.

Includes detailed analyses of "Broken Bow" through "Unexpected" and "Shockwave, Part II" through "A Night in Sickbay", and basic information through "Storm Front, Part II". Also includes a detailed analysis of the short story "Preconceptions" (SNW VI) and basic information from the short story "A Girl for Every Star" (SNW V).

The Past

Vulcans learn to overcome their emotions after centuries of savage conflict ["Shockwave, Part II"].
No precise timeframe for this was given, but it is also "centuries ago" from 1957 ["Carbon Creek"].

A book is written in a particular language. At some point after the book is written, the civilization that created the book dies out ["Exile"].
The book was written "over a thousand years" before the episode, according to Tarquin.

A spherical station is constructed ["Anomaly"].

The Loque'eque become sterile. Unable to reproduce, they develop a mutagenic virus designed to transform any alien who encounters it into a Loque'eque, complete with certain knowledge about the geography of the planet and images of the main city ["Extinction"].

Before 1750

Tarquin is born. At some point after his birth, he is discovered to be telepathic and is exiled to a new planet. His parents give him a telepathy-enhancing orb ["Exile"].

1823

December 23: The Sentinel, a New York newspaper, publishes Clement C. Moore's poem, "A Visit From St. Nicholas". The poem will in later years come to be known as "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" [Historical Accounts].
Archer jokingly suspects the Kreetassans will make him recite this poem while standing on one foot with his eyes shut, as part of their reconciliation demands ["A Night in Sickbay"].

c. 1850

The Suliban homeworld becomes uninhabitable. The species becomes mostly nomadic, though some assimilate into other cultures ["Detained"].
About 300 years ago.

A couple from Vega Reticuli weds ["Two Days and Two Nights"].
300 years before February 2152. But Vega Reticulan years might not be the same length as Earth years.

A stand of alvera trees are planted outside the Hall of Diplomacy on a Kreetassan planet ["A Night in Sickbay"].
The trees are over 300 years old, and are considered a cultural treasure.

Several people are abducted from Earth by a group of Skagarans. They are taken to a new planet ["North Star"].
About 300 years ago.

Cooper Smith, one of the Humans abducted by the Skagarans, leads a revolt and overthrows the oppressors of the Humans ["North Star"].

June 19: Moses Horwitz is born in Bensonhurst, New York. He will take a stage name of "Moe Howard" and become one of the Three Stooges [Historical accounts].
Mrs. Garrett's son compared Stron to Moe in 1957 ["Carbon Creek"].

According to the sign over the front door.

Singer Jerry Lee Lewis, releases his second single, "Crazy Arms"; the song was written by Ralph Mooney and Chuck Seals [Historical Accounts].
The song will be played on the radio in 1957 ["Carbon Creek"].

Before 1957

Maggie's husband leaves her and their son, Jack. He will write to Jack occasionally ["Carbon Creek"].

Maggie's husband moves to Phoenix, and he stops writing to Jack ["Carbon Creek"].
This was the last time Maggie heard from him, as of 1957.

1957

Jack gets a partial merit scholarship to go to college ["Carbon Creek"].
Apparently happened recently.

October 4: Sputnik I, Earth's first artificial satellite, is launched [Historical accounts].

A Vulcan ship travels to Earth to investigate the launch or Sputnik I. There is a malfunction aboard the ship in their third week of gathering information ["Carbon Creek"].

Episode 28: "Carbon Creek" [flashback/story]

The Vulcan ship crash-lands on Earth, six kilometers outside of Carbon Creek, Pennsylvania. The Captain is killed, leaving T'Mir in command of the remaining crew. On the way down, they try to send a distress signal, but the equipment is damaged on the way down and, although they do not know if the signal was sent, a Tellarite freighter picks it up and forwards it to Vulcan High Command.

Six days later, they eat the last of their emergency rations. After five days without food, two deer walk by; Mestral suggests that they could kill one and eat it, but the T'Mir declines. Mestral instead sets off for the nearby town, which has a population of 611 according to Carbon Creek's welcome sign. T'Mir follows. The two of them steal clothing in an attempt to fit in with the Humans.

On their way to a local eatery, they pass three men listening to a baseball game on a car radio (Dixon hits a ball to right field; Ellis throws it to Wilcox at home plate, who is struck by the Thompson, the runner; Wilcox held onto the ball and Thompson is out).
According to Major League Baseball, there were no such four players in 1957, so this is presumably a local game.

The two find a pool hall, the Pine Tree, which also serves food, playing the song "Crazy Arms". T'Mir asks for something free; Maggie, the bartender, gives her peanuts and water. Mestral challenges another patron to a game of pool, and wins several games in a row. He and T'Mir buy several frozen dinners with his earnings.

The third Vulcan, Stron, the ship's warp field engineer, takes up work as a plumber while waiting to be rescued. Mestral works at the local mine; T'Mir works at Pine Tree.

A nuclear device is tested just after 5:30 near White Sands, New Mexico.
According to various nuclear test databases, all U.S. nuclear testing in 1957 and 1958 took place in Nevada or the Pacific or Atlantic Oceans. Possibly this was a clip from July 16, 1945, being aired in 1957 as part of a news story.

Jack tells Mestral that he wants to study Mechanical Engineering at college, if he gets to go. His mother says he will, and points out the jar where patrons donate to Jack's college fund.

On a Wednesday, for the third time that week, Stron is called over to fix Mrs. Garrett's sink, while her son calls him Moe. Mestral suggests that Mrs. Garrett may favor Stron's company. T'Mir asks Stron to help her build a subspace transciever, but Stron believes it's impossible. T'Mir berates Mestral for excessive television-watching, but Mestral says he's doing research and suggests that T'Mir would have a better view of Humans if she would take more time to observe them. Mestral goes to the ship, ostensibly to get an wave form discriminator, hoping to return home that night to watch "I Love Lucy".
This scene takes place on a Wednesday because "I Love Lucy" aired Wednesday nights at 7:30pm ET between September 1957 and May 1958.

Instead of going to the ship, however, Mestral meets up with Maggie in her car, and she drives him to a nearby baseball game in Doylestown. Maggie asks what Mestral is hiding under his cap, but thinks she may have offended him and withdraws the question. Mestral, then, asks what happened to Maggie's husband. She tells him, then kisses him; he finds it "very pleasant". T'Mir sees Mestral in Maggie's car, Maggie sees T'Mir, and Mestral leaves. T'Mir confronts him about lying and engaging in intimate contact with a local, but since an apparently significant amount of time has passed, Mestral decides that the mission is over and that T'Mir is no longer in charge.

When cleaning up at the Pine Tree, T'Mir begins meditating, and is interrupted by Jack. He asks her about meditation, and they discuss his library history and habits.

Some time later, Mestral is working at the mine when Billy, a co-worker, calls over to him and invites him to a double-header baseball game the upcoming weekend; Tim, Gavin, Jack, and Maggie are also going. Mestral declines, and Billy starts to ask what's wrong with him recently, when an explosion occurs nearby, knocking everyone to the ground, and trapping at twelve men (though early reports suggest that twenty or more men may have been trapped). Rescue efforts begin almost immediately, but Mestral sets off to find T'Mir and Stron, and takes them to the Vulcan ship, where they look for a particle weapon in an armory case. Mestral estimates it could take several days to rescue the miners. T'Mir and Stron say that Mestral should not interfere, that the culture could be contaminated if anyone saw the weapon, and that Mestral's compassion, an emotion, is improper. Mestral says that he will help his friends and that the others shouldn't try to stop him. His words apparently affect T'Mir, because when Mestral returns to the mine with the weapon, T'Mir stands outside it with a scanner and a communicator, telling Mestral the best route to take to reach those trapped by the cave-in. She directs him to an abandoned shaft which provides access to an area which allows him to blast through to find the miners and rescue them.

That day, Mestral becomes a local hero.

1958

Episode 28: "Carbon Creek" [flashback/story]

Jack takes college board exams, and gets the highest score in the county ["Carbon Creek"].
Possibly the SAT, as the ACT is not founded until 1959 [Historical records]. Presumably happened his senior year of high school, and quite recently.

One evening, three months after the cave-in, T'Mir's communicator beeps, and Captain Tellus of the Vulcan survey vessel D'Vahl responds to the distress call. He tells them about the signal being picked up by the Tellarite vessel, and asks the stranded Vulcans to meet at their vessel in three days.

The following morning, Jack returns his mother's car to the Pine Tree and asks T'Mir, who is sweeping the front of the pool hall, whether the rumor that they're leaving is true. She says it is, that they're going home, "up north". Jack says he will miss her, that they were the most interesting people in town, and T'Mir responds by telling him he's sure to meet a lot of interesting people at college. Jack, however, says he won't be going to college, because the deadline for payment is Friday and even with the scholarship, he and his mother weren't able to collect enough money for him to go. Jack says he'll apply for the scholarship again next year, but there are no guarantees that it will be offered to him again. Maggie overhears part of their conversation and tells T'Mir about Jack's test scores.

Perhaps the same day, Stron terminates him employment, but he promises Mrs. Garrett that he will fix her vacuum.

T'Mir returns to the ship to fetch something, then takes a train to a nearby city, to introduce a businessman to an "invention that will change the world". Apparently she telephoned him first. She pulls from her purse a piece of cloth, folded in half, which sticks to itself until pulled apart. The businessman buys the invention from her for several hundred dollars, and she returns to Carbon Creek.

The next morning, Maggie comes down to the Pine Tree and greets T'Mir, who had already arrived. Maggie sees the college fund jar, which has had several hundred dollars added to it. She calls up to her son to wake him up and tell him the good news, while T'Mir observes her.

That evening, as Stron repairs Mrs. Garrett's vacuum, Mestral says it's a shame Stron will have left Earth without experiencing anything their culture has to offer; over Stron's objections, he says that there's more to Earth than alcohol, frozen fish sticks, and the constant threat of nuclear annihilation. Mestral claims that he plans to stay on Earth, to study what he sees as their upcoming technological and social advancements. Stron says that it is Mestral's duty to return to Vulcan and report his findings, but Mestral says there is still more to learn. T'Mir suggests that she could arrange to have him come on the next survey vessel, but Mestral doesn't want to wait years to return, only to be limited to taking readings from orbit.

A Vulcan scout vessel lands near the crash site. Captain Tellus inquires after the captain and Mestral; T'Mir lies by telling him that Mestral also died in the crash, and that both of their bodies had been cremated. Stron and T'Mir enter the vessel, which returns to the D'Vahl.

After "Carbon Creek" flashback/story

The D'Vahl returns to Vulcan ["Carbon Creek"].
Presumably happens soon after the ship leaves Earth orbit.

Mestral remains on Earth ["Carbon Creek"].

Earth plans to send a second group of 200 settlers to Terra Nova, but the first colonists object ["Terra Nova"].

Jonathan Archer sees a gazelle give birth in East Africa. Within minutes, the baby gazelle was walking along its mother ["Shockwave, Part II"].
Archer was in his early 20's when he saw this.

Travis Mayweather takes an interest in Terra Nova ["Terra Nova"].
This happens when he's a kid, probably between ages four and fifteen.

Henry Archer dies ["Broken Bow"; Deleted Scene, "Home"].
He didn't live to see the launch of Enterprise. The year is taken from a deleted scene at the end of "Home", and is thus non-canonical.

The Horizon travels to Trillius Prime ["Broken Bow", "Dead Stop"].
According to "Broken Bow", the trip took about three years, while Travis was in the fourth through sixth grades. According to "Dead Stop", Travis was born in 2125 or 2126. Assuming Travis starts fourth grade when he is eight or nine years old and leaves sixth grade when he is eleven or twelve, the trip starts sometime between 2133 to 2135 and ends sometime between 2136 and 2138.

15-year-old Charlie Tucker, along with 29 other students, is selected for the Summer honors program at Roykirk School. His class is to be taught by Doctor Yelena Marinin ["Preconceptions"].

Dr. Marinin is called away to consult on another project, being replaced as honors class instructor by Velik ["Preconceptions"].

Tucker's 10th grade biology teacher is a Vulcan, Mr. Velik. He teaches Trip to "Challenge your preconceptions, or they will challenge you" ["Strange New World"].
The short story "Preconceptions" tells one version of this event.

Short Story: "Preconceptions"

Spans six weeks.

Summer honors classes begin at Roykirk School. The members of Charles Tucker's class, none of whom have met a Vulcan before, are surprised to find their instructor replaced by one. On the first day of class, Trip says that "it's a well-known fact that Vulcans don't teach Humans anything", because Vulcans have not given Humans high-warp technology. Mr. Velik presents a hypothetical case of Vulcans providing Earth with such technology, concluding with "Preconceptions, Mr. Tucker. You must challenge your preconceptions, or they will challenge you." He sets an objective for the class to prepare at least three submissions to this year's Cherenko-Cochrane Competition. Charlie meets Chris. Over the next four days, each student in the class writes up a proposal for a project.

On the sixth day, Velik announces that the six projects worthy of pursuit for the competition include Charles Tucker's proposal on a new technique to protect warp engines from super-heated plasma. Chris is assigned to work with Charlie based on Chris's similar proposal. Over the next two weeks, they work together ten to twelve hours a day, not making much progress, but on the twentieth day, Trip has a breakthrough. They meet every Saturday after the lab closes to play basketball one-on-one before dinner

One Saturday, Charlie practices free-throws before Chris shows up. They discuss frustrations and what they gave up to participate in the summer program.

Velik contacts Dr. Maranin to return early from her project.

Charlie stays at the lab late the day before the project deadline. Mr. Velik, whose voice is hoarse, finds Trip there and informs his student that he will be returning to Vulcan soon and will not be there the following day. Charlie asks if his project made the cut but Velik refuses to tell him. The deadline for entering the competition passes.

The next day, Dr. Maranin takes over the class. She announces that none of the projects met with Velik's expectations to be submitted to the competition. An hour later, the first group presents their project to Maranin.

The day before they leave, Trip and Chris meet at the basketball court one last time. Chris will be leaving for Starfleet Academy. Trip dribbles the ball, and throws the ball from half court to spite Mr. Velik, who Trip feels misled him and the rest of the class; the ball goes straight through the net without hitting the rim.

After "Preconceptions"

Chris goes Starfleet Academy ["Preconceptions"].

Possibly extends more generations back than that; Malcolm was part of "a long line of navy men".

A repair facility abducts visitors, replacing them with deceased replicas ["Dead Stop"].
Most of the abductees have been there for "years".

Starfleet is founded ["Broken Bow"].

Phlox

Not long after he becomes a physician, Phlox is part of the first medical team to arrive at the explosion of a ship in orbit around his homeworld. There are 17 dead on the ship ["Fight or Flight"].

Phlox masters the call of the Pyrithian moon hawk ["A Night in Sickbay"].
"Years ago", according to Phlox.

Phlox marries three wives. Each of the wives has two husbands aside from Phlox ["A Night in Sickbay"].
The order in which the nine marriages mentioned here took place has not yet been specified. There are 720 relationships, with 42 containing romantic possibilities.

Phlox has five children: Two daughters (one surgeon, one biochemist) and three sons (one potter (who lives in the same town as his mother), and two with whom he hasn't spoken in many years) ["A Night in Sickbay"].
Presumably his wives actually bear the young, though this has not been confirmed.

Phlox teaches at a medical academy for years, and he finds the experience rewarding ["Fight or Flight"]. Phlox acquires six degrees in interspecies veterinary medicine, as well as degrees in dentistry, hematology, botanical pharmacology, and other fields, including psychiatry ["A Night in Sickbay"].

Phlox joins the Interspecies Medical Exchange ["Broken Bow"].

Phlox arrives on Earth as part of the Interspecies Medical exchange. Among other things, he will try Chinese food ["Broken Bow"].

Reed

Malcolm Reed's great-uncle, who suffers from aquaphobia, joins the British Navy and has a distinguished career in the submarine service, facing his deepest fears. Malcolm idolizes him. The uncle is promoted to Chief Engineer on the H.M.S. Clement. The ship hits a mine left over from a world war and is trapped underneath an ice shelf. The uncle seals himself into the engine room and keeps the reactor running long enough for the rest of the crew to escape, according to his lieutenant ["Minefield"].

Malcolm Reed earns the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts ["Rogue Planet"].

Malcolm Reed is raised on the water. He learns how to handle a boat before riding a bicycle. He studies great naval battles. But he has an irrational fear of drowning (aquaphobia) ["Minefield"].

Malcolm Reed decides to join Starfleet rather than serving in the British Navy as his father and grandfather had, due to aquaphobia ["Minefield"].

Mayweather

Mr. and Mrs. Mayweather travel with their son, Travis, on the freighter Horizon ["Fortunate Son"] for 23 years ["Fight or Flight"]. They very infrequently run into problems ["Fight or Flight"]. Travis's father kept the ship at 0.8G ["Broken Bow"]. Travis visits Draylax, and the two Teneebian moons ["Broken Bow"]. The ship encounters an escape pod which had been drifting for 63 years, and assistant engineer George Webb, a friend of Travis's uncle, is assigned to open it; a few days later, Webb starts acting crazy, temporarily disables the ship, and enters an escape pod of his own ["Strange New World"].

Travis Mayweather works under Jonathan Archer on two other vessels [Broken Bow].
This data point from the novelization would seem to have been contradicted by later episodes.

Archer

Jonathan Archer starts going out with a woman whose mother has a beagle that Archer loves. He later breaks up with his girlfriend but continues to see the beagle. The beagle becomes pregnant and has a litter which includes four male puppies; they are named after the Four Musketeers. The mother calls Jon, who picks up Porthos six weeks after birth ["A Night in Sickbay"].

Archer has a commanding officer who feels that officers should not fraternize with their inferiors ["Minefield"].
"They're your crew, not your friends", the commanding officer reportedly said. Presumably before Archer was promoted to Captain.

April 17: Silik again contacts FutureGuy. Enterprise enters the atmosphere of the gas giant, finding a Suliban helix consisting of hundreds of small vessels. One Suliban pod is grappled by Enterprise, and the pilot ejects. Mayweather studies the commands on the pod and teaches Tucker how to fly it; he and the captain travel to the helix and rescue Klaang. Archer uses a device to detach all the vessels from the helix, and Tucker and Klaang escape on their bod. Archer discovers the temporal chamber; Archer is beamed back by Tucker.

April 17: Mayweather estimated Enterprise's arrival at Qo'noS, based on the starcharts the Vulcans provided. However, the complications of the Suliban attack and the detour to Rigel X delay this estimate.

April 20: Enterprise returns Klaang to Qo'noS.
Assumes no further delays after the detour to Rigel and the gas giant, and the return to their previous course.

Episode 3: "Fight or Flight"

May 2: More power is routed to Sick Bay. Hoshi requests that her quarters, on E-deck, starboard section 5, be exchanged with Ensign Porter on the port side of the ship, since "the stars are going the wrong way". Reed uses an asteroid belt for target practice, to check the simulations. He begins re-focusing the infrared scanner to compensate for errors in the trial.

May 3: Enterprise finds an abandoned vessel (later learned to be Axanar), made of tritanium and disilicon polymers, and upon entering the vessel, Hoshi finds fifteen dead bodies, being drained of their. Archer decides to leave the ship, based on T'Pol's advice, and the ship leaves at warp 3.

May 4: T'Pol discovers a stellar nursery along Enterprise's course. T'Pol and Tucker have a meal with the captain, and during the meal, Archer reconsiders his decision to leave. After about five hours, Enterprise again arrives at the vessel.

1400 hours: Phlox, Archer, Tucker, and Hoshi suit up and take a shuttlepod to the vessel. Phlox performs a post-mortem on one body, discovering that the Axanar were killed to obtain triglobulin, generated by the zymuth gland. Triglobulin is like the human lymphatic fluid. Hoshi deciphers enough of the Axanar language to create and send the message "Ship in distress". The ship which previously attacked the Axanar vessel returns. The shuttlepod returns to Enterprise, barely making it inside when the alien vessel attacks. The attacks depolarize the port warp nacelle, and the aliens perform a submolecular bioscan. Another Axanar vessel arrives and, after conversation with Hoshi, saves Enterprise by destroying the attacking vessel.

May 5: Archer and crew meet with the Axanar and learn about their species.

May 6: Archer records a log entry about the events of the past couple days. Enterprise finds a planet with an argon atmosphere suitable for the slug, and Hoshi and Phlox take a shuttlepod down to the planet to give it a new home.

Between "Fight or Flight" and "Strange New World"

c. May 6: Enterprise sets course for a nebula, but changes course when an Earth-like planet is discovered ["Strange New World"].

Episode 4: "Strange New World"

May 8: Crewmen Cutler and Ethan Novakovich share breakfast in the mess hall. Enterprise arrives at the planet. An away team consisting of Archer, Tucker, T'Pol, Porthos, Cutler (whose specialty is entomology), Mayweather, and Novakovich. Archer and Porthos return to the ship.
Enterprise has been in deep space for three weeks, placing this episode around May 8.

Night: At dinner, Mayweather tells a ghost story. A storm comes in from the southwest, and the crew retire to their tents. A scorpion-like creature gets in Tucker and Mayweather's tent, and the crew travel to a nearby cave for protection. Travis goes back out to get food packs from their campsite, but hallucinates seeing three people out in the storm. Ethan hallucinates hearing voices in the cave, and runs out into the storm. Trip and Travis go after him, and Trip hallucinates seeing a creature come out of a rock. Later, Cutler also hallucinates hearing voices. Archer and Reed bring another shuttlepod down to rescue the crew, but a navigation mishap in the storm damages the pod and prevents it from landing, and they return to Enterprise without picking up the landing party.

The crew returns to the cave. Paranoia sets in in Trip, who suspects T'Pol of collaborating with the hallucinatory rock creatures. Reed beams up Novakovich, although the high winds impale Ethan with leaves, sand, and other debris during the beam-out procedure; the crewman is rushed to sickbay. Tucker and T'Pol each become more agitated. Phlox discovers that tropolisine, a psychotropic compound found in some flowering plants, is causing the hallucinations and paranoia; it most likely came in on the wind during the storm.

Travis's hallucinations intensify, as does Trip's paranoia; Trip sees his former science teacher, a Vulcan named Mr. Velik. Nine hours from dawn, Phlox discovers that his treatment of Ethan has resulted in a deadly side effect, when the tropolisine breaks down into a toxin. Archer convinces Trip to stand down, T'Pol stuns Tucker, and has Reed beam down a treatment for the toxin. T'Pol administers the treatment to all crewmen.

May 9: Tucker wakes up and makes amends to T'Pol. A shuttlepod is sent down to retrieve the away team.

After "Strange New World"

Novakovich's treatment continues, slowly making progress [By the Book].

Episode 5: "Unexpected"

May 10, Morning: Gravity goes out on E-Deck, and is restored after only a few moments. T'Pol and Phlox share breakfast, but the food synthesizer acts up. Meanwhile, the temperature on C-Deck drops to 12°C (54°F), and Ensign Almack tries to fix it. A power fluctuation in the starboard nacelle is another sign of a problem with the plasma exhaust. T'Pol finds a likely culprit, and Reed finds a ship with stealth technology. Archer contacts the ship, and discovers that they have been using Enterprise's plasma exhaust to replenish their teraphasic coils.

Tucker is given 40mg of mirazine to reduce the six-hour decompression cycle to three hours. Mayweather and Tucker take a shuttlepod to the alien vessel; Trip boards, and Travis returns to Enterprise. Tucker undergoes decompression, which involves a change in the air, among other things. Three hours later, he leaves the "acclimation chamber" and, slightly disoriented, greets two Xyrillians: Captain Trena'L, and Engineer Ah'Len. He declines the meal they've prepared for him.

Evening: Trip starts to work on the ship, but the disorientation of the decompression process catches up to him and he is unable to work. Archer calls Trena'L and requests that Tucker be allowed to rest; Trena'L suggests he rest for at least an hour, and Tucker does. When he awakens, Trip again declines food, but accepts water.

May 11: Trip begins working on aligning the injector cells to the primary coil, and bringing the ion matrix up to 0.5. While the coils regenerate over a couple hours, Tucker and Ah'Len visit a holographic chamber, and she shows him her homeworld, Thera, then shows him a telepathic game in a boat in the chamber. After describing each other's favorite foods (Tucker likes catfish; Ah'Len likes dutara root), she learns that Archer saved Trip's life about four years ago. They are called back to duty when the coils finish regenerating. Work continues.

May 13: Trip enters the decompression chamber, having been on the ship for three days, and Travis brings a pod back to pick him up three hours later. Meanwhile, Enterprise has been repaired from the damage the Xyrillians' ship caused.

May 14: Trip and Malcolm share breakfast, when the engineer discovers that a small growth has appeared on his left arm. Dr. Phlox examines him, and declares that Commander Tucker is pregnant. Captain Archer and T'Pol are informed of the situation, and they learn that the baby is not a true offspring of the commander, but rather a clone of Ah'Len.

May, day unknown: Tucker has an incident with another engineer, about the safety features of the safety bar and handrail of the open lift in Engineering.

May 19: The Xyrillian's engine goes off-line again, after working for six days. They eventually find a Klingon ship to follow.

May 21: Engineering Ensign Hart pulls out Tucker's chair for him. Archer records a log entry, stating that Enterprise has been searching for the Xyrillian ship for eight days. The Captain, Trip, and Dr. Phlox share lunch, including chicken tetrazini. Archer reveals that this pregnancy is, to the best of his knowledge, the first Human-alien pregnancy. T'Pol finds the Xyrillian ship, but is is hiding in the plasma wake of a Klingon battle cruiser. The Klingons attack when Enterprise attempts communication, and after discovering the Xyrillian vessel, Klingon Captain Volok orders his officers to kill the 35 members of the Xyrillian crew other than their captain. Archer is eventually able to convince the Klingons to break off their attack plans by revealing Trip's pregnancy.

Trip spends three hours in the decompression chamber with a group of Klingons, including Volok who works out a deal with Trena'L: Volok will spare the Xyrillians if they give him their holotechnology and adapt it to his ship's systems. Ah'Len and Trip are reunited, and Charlie explains the situation. The baby is safely removed from Commander Tucker, who then returns to Enterprise after another three hours of decompression. Later that evening, Tucker, Archer, and T'Pol share dinner, where T'Pol reveals that after checking the Starfleet database, she found that this was the first recorded instance of a Human male becoming pregnant.

T'Pol said that Enterprise had been at Qo'noS less than a month before, placing the end of this episode by May 21 (31 days after April 20).

Novel: By the Book

This novel spans about six days. "Strange New World" was "a few weeks ago" (page 190), and the novel ends with Enterprise two days away from their next destination. This story may take place either before or after "Terra Nova", but this chronology assumes that it is before. With that assumption, a timespan of May 31 through June 5 is likely.

Episode 6: "Terra Nova"

Travis finds some pictures in the ship's database from the S.S. Conestoga, including Captain Mitchell. Archer has lunch with Tucker and T'Pol, where they recount the history of Terra Nova, last heard from over 70 years ago.

Three hours, seventeen minutes later, Enterprise arrives at Terra Nova, and Archer, T'Pol, Reed, and Mayweather take a shuttlepod down to the planet, finding the colony. T'Pol analyzes the radiation levels and declares that they would have been at lethal levels 70 years ago. Reed finds another humanoid in the forest and follows him to a cave, and Archer and T'Pol join him. After Mayweather grabs a pair of flashlights from the shuttle, Reed and Archer enter the cave, eventually finding a clearing where several humanoids watch from above. When one of the creatures draws a pistol, Reed fires back, and he and Archer run back toward the entrance. Reed is hit on the way back, though Archer escapes. Another of the creatures runs out from the cave entrance and attacks Mayweather; T'Pol stuns him, and takes readings with her tricorder. T'Pol, Archer, and Mayweather reach the shuttlepod, and T'Pol reveals that the creatures were actually Humans.

Spans about two days. Exact placement is difficult, but this chronology assumes the next destination mentioned at the end of By the Book was Terra Nova, so a timespan of June 8 through 9 is likely.

Silik addresses T'Pol, who allows him and his men to come aboard ["Shockwave, Part II"]. Crewman Cutler rescues Porthos from a Suliban attempting to enter Archer's quarters [Shockwave]. Less than two hours later, a Suliban soldier finds the records taken from the Suliban vessel. The crew is confined to quarters, and the Suliban take command.

On Earth, Ambassador Soval reports that Enterprise is three days late for their rendezvous with the D'kyr, but reluctantly also states that Enterprise was escorted away by a number of vessels, when they were still too far outside of sensor range to identify.

Enterprise arrives at a Suliban Helix. Silik attempts to contact FutureGuy, but there is no response. Silik has Raan fetch T'Pol, who is brought to an interrogation chamber on the Helix and hooked up to several pieces of technology. Silik questions her, but T'Pol remains adamant that "the Vulcan Science Directorate has determined that time travel is impossible". It has been two days since Archer was taken back to April 2151 and returned by Daniels.

Back on Enterprise, Trip has found a way to communicate through the EPS grid to any doorbell on B-deck. He communicates with Reed first, then proceeds to work out how to connect to C-deck. T'Pol is returned to her quarters, badly shaken, and goes to bed. As she lays there, Archer's voice is heard, and a shadowy outline of his head appears. At first she refuses to believe that Archer is who he appears, but eventually she comes around. Archer tells her to go to Daniels' quarters.

Some time later, Trip has contacted C-deck and arranges a "conference call" with Reed, Hoshi, Mayweather, and T'Pol. They discuss how to escape, and Hoshi travels 40 or 45 meters through the EPS conduit shafts to Phlox's quarters, where he hands her a hypospray he's prepared, having already been contacted by the others. Hoshi travels on to the hallway outside Reed's quarters on B-deck, but when her shirt snags on a hitch, she is left topless; she opens Reed's door and enters, asking for a shirt and a refrain from comment. They let out several other crewmen.

Suliban patrol the corridors. Two of them come across T'Pol, huddled on the floor by the transporter, mumbling to herself and performing air-science. They grab T'Pol, who resists; Trip and Reed come out of ceiling hatches and hypo-spray the two attackers. Reed sets out for the next part of the plan; he's got 30 minutes to complete it.

Reed unlocks Daniels' quarters and enters, reaching into an extra-dimensional hole and pulling something out. He exits the room and is taken by two Suliban guards to the bridge. Silik and another Suliban beat Reed until he confesses that he doesn't know what the device is, but that he was told by Archer, before he left, to destroy it in order to not let it fall into Suliban hands. Meanwhile, Trip and T'Pol re-take Engineering and contaminate the antimatter stream. As Suliban soldiers respond to the problem, several large explosions occur throughout Engineering. Silik attempts to use the device on the Helix to contact FutureGuy, but is interrupted by Raan, who tells him that Enterprise is about to self-destruct and should be towed away from the Helix and out of the nebula. Silik continues to manipulate the device. The Suliban abandon ship and tow it away, Enterprise's nacellse leaking significantly. Explosions rock the ship... but Trip's pyrotechnics do little damage, and the ship resumes full power. Several Suliban cell ships approach but Enterprise continues on its way.

Silik pleads to the shaky signal, saying he's been trying to contact FutureGuy for two days with no answer; he seeks instructions, but suddenly Archer leaps through and assaults Silik. Archer destroys the communication device, takes the records back, and commandeers a cell ship. Enterprise is buffeted by fire from several cell ships, and just when the hull plating runs out, the shooting stops, and the Suliban vessels break off. Archer arrives in the commandeered Suliban vessel and comes aboard.

A few days later, Enterprise meets up with the D'kyr; Vulcans come aboard, and they open a channel to Ambassador Soval, Admiral Forrest, and their respective staffs on Earth. Archer tells a story about gazelles and T'Pol reminds Soval of the Vulcans' past. The Vulcans walk out of the room on Earth and leave the bridge of Enterprise. Forrest tells Archer that he will inform him of the Command Council's decision. Archer goes to bed.

Archer is awakened in the middle of the night by Admiral Forrest, who tells him that the Command Council decided that Enterprise will be allowed to continue its mission. Forrest says that nobody could believe T'Pol standing up for Archer. The Captain visits T'Pol's quarters, and is seen by Crewman Fuller. T'Pol is unconcerned, as she tends to be discreet. Archer fills her in on the Admiral's message and leaves her quarters. As he leaves, T'Pol tells him she still doesn't believe in time travel. Archer politely disagrees.

Enterprise undocks from D'kyr and they go their separate ways.

Between "Shockwave, Part II" and "Carbon Creek"

Episode 28: "Carbon Creek"

April 12: T'Pol has been officially on the crew of Enterprise for exactly one year. She, the Captain, and Commander Tucker share a bottle of wine, T'Pol allowing for a small indulgence, under the circumstances. The previous record for a Vulcan serving aboard a Human starship was ten days. She tells Jonathan and Charles about her great-grandmother's visit to Earth in 1957, leaving doubt in their minds as to whether it actually happened. She returns to her quarters, where she unwraps and holds the purse T'Mir held the "invention" in.

Before "Minefield"

Episode 29: "Minefield"

Malcolm visits the Captain's mess hall for breakfast, possibly on a Sunday.
Later in the episode, Reed jokes about Chef making Sunday dinner. That might indicate that the episode starts Sunday morning, or perhaps it simply means that Chef prepares fancier meals on Sundays.

Reed is honored to be invited to the Captain's table, thinking the meeting is for business, but when Archer turns to casual conversation and says that he simply wants to have breakfast with his armory officer, an event that's long overdue, Reed gets uncomfortable. A steward brings in eggs for the two of them. Archer mentions England's recent qualification for the World Cup, but Malcolm doesn't follow European football or any other sport. Reed says that Ensign Tanner could begin working on torpedo upgrades if a third person is assigned to the armory full-time. Archer tries to return the conversation to casual topics, but T'Pol calls the captain to report a Minshara-class planet along the ship's present course. Archer orders the ship out of warp, and Reed and he head for the bridge.

On the bridge, Archer orders the ship to enter orbit of the planet, which includes several volcanoes. As plans are made, the ship is rocked by a thermokinetic explosion on the port forward quarter of the outer hull. C and D decks sustain damage, plasma fires erupt in Engineering, the EPS grid overloads, and eight empty subsections of the ship decompres. T'Pol sees that Hoshi is hurt and calls for medical assistance. Phlox treats at least seventeen casualties in the sickbay, though there are no fatalities. Hoshi arrives in sickbay.

Travis detects a collision on the upper aft starboard hull. Sensors focus on the area, and Archer notices a flicker. The object's cloaking device deactivates, and scans show that there are no life signs and that it is armed. Reed identifies it as a mine with tricobalt explosives, similar to the what damaged the ship. Reed volunteers to go out to defuse it, as they don't know how it is activated; he sets off for an outer hatch to the outside of the hull. Archer uses the quantum beacons attached to the grappler arm to try to detect other mines; T'Pol shifts phase variances on the beacon in order to penetrate the different style of cloak. Reed suits up and exits the ship. T'Pol finds that a setting of .0075 reveals no less than 40 mines in the viewing area. Reed approaches the mine and determines it has been in orbit for a long time, being struck by micrometeorites several times. Reed opens an access panel. Trip reports that mobody was lost in the explosion. Archer makes a contingency plan to detach the section of hull plating, which Trip says will take three or four hours to prepare for, by re-routing EPS conduits and releasing about 300 bold couplings. The arming mechanism extends from the mind, and Reed watches as an alien vessel decloaks near the planet, headed toward the ship.

T'Pol notes that the ship is deflecting scans, and speculates that the mines may have used a less sophisticated type of cloaking device than the ship, to explain why the quantum beacons didn't reveal the ship earlier. The ship hails Enterprise, but the translator has difficulty locking onto the language. Archer calls to sickbay to check on Hoshi's status, but Phlox says that her concussion would prevent her from being much help. The vessel takes two warning shots that pass close to the nacelles. Archer orders Mayweather to break orbit, evading the mines, and he warns Reed of the impending movement. Reed identifies four detonation circuits, somewhat similar to a Triton-class spatial torpedo, and begins searching for the proper sequence in which to isolate them. Mayweather banks sharply to avoid a mine; this causes the hull to shake, which activates the third magnetic spike, which extends to attach to the hull, but which penetrates Reed's leg, pinning him to the hull. His suit is ruptured and blood leaks out, but an automatic sealant is released which plugs the entry and exit holes around the spike. Archer heads out to see the Lieutenant.

Phlox inspects a red-pipinged crewman and tells him he will have to wait for the osmotic eel to cauterize the wound on his upper left arm. Hoshi tries to return to duty, and though Phlox won't let her leave, he compromises and agrees to let someone bring the communication logs down to sickbay. Archer reaches Reed and, based on the medical scans he takes, finds that the spike missed the bone and that the pressure of the spike is preventing the wound from bleeding much. Reed prevents the Captain from cutting the spike, saying that he discovered detonation circuits running through it. Archer gives Reed an anesthetic for the pain, something Phlox devised. Archer tells Reed to talk him through the defusing, and though Reed is resistant to the idea, he eventually gives in and begins instructing Archer on what to do.

Back inside the ship, Hoshi translates the message: The aliens order Enterprise to leave and state that the planet has been annexed in the name of the Romulan Star Empire. Hoshi mispronounces the name, but T'Pol corrects her. She and Trip contact the Captain, and he recalls seeing the name on a book in the ruined library, when he was pulled to the future by Daniels, though he wasn't able to learn anything about them. T'Pol reports that the Vulcan High Command has never made direct contact with the Romulans but considers them to be an aggressive, territorial species, based on rumor.

Archer continues to defuse the mine at Reed's instructions, pulling, turning, and manipulating items inside the device. Jon tries to continue the conversation from breakfast as they work, asking Malcolm about sports and other hobbies. Reed doesn't think this is the appropriate time for such things, but Archer says that it keeps him focused and calm. Reed admits his discomfort with "fraterniz[ing] with superior officers", but Archer says that on Enterprise, the crew may be together for years, that all they have to depend on is each other, and that he doesn't agree with Reed's assessment. Archer says he still respects Reed's opinions, and Reed says that he things the bridge has become less controlled than it should be, with Archer letting the crew give their opinions when he should be giving orders instead. Archer counters that there's no point having a senior staff if they don't contribute anything. Reed also says that the Captain should be more cautious in the area of security. Archer finishes manipulating the last relay, causing the assembly to go dark. He begins inserting the relays again, and when that is finished, the assembly arm retracts into the mine again.

Mayweather finally clears the minefield. Trip says he can go off-duty; he's earned a break and that Ensign Hutchison can take over the helm, but Mayweather prefers to stay at his port. T'Pol informs the Captain, and he orders them to maintain their current velocity. Reed uncovers a back-up arming mechanism and figures out how to circumvent it. While Archer works on the device, he turns back to conversation. Reed admits to having aquaphobia, and tells the story of his great-uncle on the H.M.S. Clement. Reed goes to the bathroom in his suit. The Romulan ship re-appears and hails, ordering Enterprise to leave despite the mine stuck to the hull; their scans showed the last-resort plan of detaching that section of hull plating, and they believe sacrificing the one crewman trapped by the mine should be acceptable because of the other 82 safely aboard.
Probably the Romulans have erroneously included Porthos in the count of crew inside the show, as previous episodes have stated there are only 83 people aboard, and with Reed and Archer outside, the Romulan Captain's figure of 82 would indicate 84 beings. On the other hand, perhaps they included Archer in the 82 who were "safely aboard" even though he was outside at the time.

The Romulans insist that the hull plating be jettisoned and that Enterprise leave, then close the communication channel and cloak again. Archer calls in and T'Pol fills him in on the situation. Archer finished defusing the last detonation circuit, but the device begins to re-arm itself. Archer quickly resets the final element and the arming sequence stops; fortunately, the device did not explode within the intervening 26 seconds. Reed discovers that deactivating the secondary arming mechanism isn't possible due to the location of that assembly, and says that he is prepared to sacrifice himself for the sake of the ship and crew. Archer refuses, despite Reed's repeated insistence, and when Reed pulls out his air hose to take the option out of Archer's hand, the Captain re-attaches it and links his own air pack to Reed's to reload it.

Archer begins to wonder why the mine, which Reed speculates would have about a 250 ton load, didn't explode immediately. Archer returns to the ship and meets T'Pol and Trip in a corridor; he announces that they will release the hull plating. T'Pol begins to reassure the Captain that he did all he could, thinking that he has decided there is no choice left but to sacrifice Reed, but Archer interrupts and says he will be going back out; he asks Trip whether a shuttlepod hatch could withstand the blast. Trip says they probably could, and Archer orders him to get two and bring them up immediately. T'Pol considers questioning the plan but decides there is no point. Archer returns to Reed with the shuttlepod hatches.

Back on the bridge, T'Pol and Trip contact the Captain. She signals that they are ready: The final bolts are released, the section of hull (which is adjacent to section marked "V070-39-89761-1034 MN-HULL") is detached from the ship, and the plating floats away from the ship with Reed, Archer, and the mine. When the hull section is about 600 meters from Enterprise, two Romulan ships decloak. Archer cuts the spike between Reed's leg and the hull, and the mine begins to arm again. He cuts the spike above the leg and the two of them jump off the hull, swivel around, and prepare for the blast, which comes approximately 35 seconds after the arming began.

Mayweather detects Captain Archer and Lieutenant Reed, and he steers the ship toward them. Trip opens the doors to Shuttlebay 2. The Romulans target Enterprise's engines. T'Pol calls Phlox to meet her by Shuttlebay 2. Reed and Archer enter through the Shuttlebay, and Travis seals the outer doors. Enterprise takes off at warp.

Inside the bay, Archer helps Reed, and they discuss the length of time between arming and detonation; Reed thinks it was about ten seconds; Archer thinks it was more like 20. (Archer is closer.) Phlox, T'Pol, and Trip arrive, and Phlox begins examining Reed.

Between "Minefield" and "Dead Stop"

Phlox treats Reed's injury and begins physical therapy. The treatment includes Regulan bloodworms, and one of them gets lost inside his leg ["Dead Stop"].

Repair teams work around the clock to repair the damage to Enterprise ["Dead Stop"].

Episode 30: "Dead Stop"

Four days after the cloaked mine incident, Archer and Trip take a shuttlepod out to investigate the damage. Commander Tucker estimates it will take three or four months to repair the hull if they can find tritanium. At warp 2, the ship's current maximum speed, it would take about a decade to reach Jupiter. Archer instructs Ensign Sato (the first time he has called her this in the series) to send out a general distress call, hoping that someone friendly will respond.

Phlox continues Reed's therapy, saying he should able to return to duty in a week or two. Phlox says it may be sooner if Reed would allow him to use Regulan bloodworms again, but Reed is set against them; the lost worm still hasn't come out. Porthos and Jonathan notice a squeak in the captain's office. T'Pol receives a response to the distress call and summons Archer to the Bridge. The response seems to be from a Tellarite freighter; they say they cannot rendezvous with Enterprise due to their schedule, but they send coordinates for a nearby repair facility, which is only three and a half days away at the ship's current top warp. T'Pol tells Archer that Tellarites are not a very agreeable species, but they can usually be trusted. Archer has Mayweather set a course.

Three and a half days later, Enterprise finds the repair station, which is about 130 light years from Earth. T'Pol finds no life-signs and there is no response to their hails. Tucker speculates that the station may have been abandoned. T'Pol says the facility has a liquid helium atmosphere at -454°F (-270°C). The facility biomolecularly scans Enterprise, all its inhabitants, and their databases, and begins to reconfigure itself, both by expanding docking structures to accomodate the ship and by replacing the atmosphere with one similar to the ship's. Archer orders Mayweather to take the ship into the dock.

Archer, Trip, and T'Pol enter the facility, where they find stark white hallways leading to a control room where a holographic representation of the ship awaits them. Every bit of damage is highlighted on the model, even the place where Tucker's shuttlepod bumped the bottom of the saucer section in April 2151. Archer finds that all of the display panels are in English. A screen shows a diagram of Malcolm Reed, highlighting the place his left leg had been impaled. Another panel opens and a computer voice requests a form of compensation be chosen, in order for the repairs to begin. (The options are three warp coils, five deuterium injectors, or 200 liters of warp plasma.) The computer says the repairs will take 34.2 hours to complete. Archer agrees to the warp plasma payment, and arms extend from the dock to the ship and begin work. Archer tells Trip to send the repair schedule to Hoshi and have her inform the crew to stay out of those areas at the times given.

The computer offers recreation facilities to the ship's crew. The three officers follow blinking lights to the mostly empty rec desk, which has a view of the ship being repaired. T'Pol figures out that the tables include replicators; she asks for cold water, and a glass of cold water is synthesized for her. Trip asks for a pan-fried catfish, which arrives smelling like the real thing and tasting good. Archer returns to Enterprise. Various arms extend and retract from the dock to repair various damaged areas. A device appears in sickbay fires a beam at Reed's left leg, which re-grows cells at an exponential rate, using a cytokinetic enzyme to stimulate cell division. The device vanishes; Phlox scans Reed's leg and finds that it has been completely healed, not even leaving a scar. Reed stands up and finds that there is no pain. Trip sees a transtator assembly replaced in fifteen minutes (it would have taken his crew a week to do the same, he estimates); the new assembly exceeds Starfleet specifications, he tells T'Pol.

Trip scans the facility and finds that the only place the central computer could be located is less than half the size of the recreation area. He asks the facility's computer where its core is but the computer responds with a syntax error.

Travis Mayweather goes off-duty at 1800 hours. At 1830, Hoshi has dinner with him.
When precisely this falls in the chronology is uncertain.

Later, Archer watches the repairs from his office window. T'Pol arrives and informs the Captain that work on the launch bay will begin at 2200 hours. Archer notes that even the squeak in the floor has been repaired. Archer jokes about gremlins in the floor and explains the history of the term. Archer says he has been suspicious of the altruistic, anonymous nature of the repair facility.

At the recreation facility, Trip and Reed discuss recent events while over a dozen other crewmen enjoy the food. Trip speculates that a day may come when engineers and tactical officers wouldn't be necessary; Enterprise's computer is three decks high and the most advanced in the fleet, he says, and the repair facility is much more advanced but the computer must be much smaller. Trip talks Reed into investigating the station's computer core by crawling through a duct.

At 2200 hours, work on the launch bay begins.

Travis begins writing a letter to his sister.
He may have been working on it for a while; it was on the monitor when Reed entered Travis's quarters later.

Malcolm and Charlie enter the cooling duct. Almost immediately, Travis, who is getting dressed for bed, is called down to launch bay one in Captain Archer's voice; he leaves his room, passing Crewman Hayes along the way. On the station, the passage in front of the engineer and armory officer is blocked, about twenty meters from the computer core, by an iris constricting; they turn around and are transported to the bridge of Enterprise, still on their hands and knees. T'Pol looks unsurprised by their sudden appearance.

At approximately 2330 hours, Mayweather arrives in launch bay one, only to find that it was not the Captain who called him down there. The station abducts the Ensign and leaves a duplicate in his place, deceased. Captain Archer dresses down Lt. Reed and Cmdr. Tucker in his office. Tucker tries to take responsibility but Archer doesn't accept that; taking Reed's advice from when he was pinned to the hull, Archer foregoes his usual "lax" style and restricts both officers to their quarters until further notice. Archer dismisses them, but before they leave he stops them and asks if they found anything interesting in the facility. T'Pol interrupts by calling him to launch bay one immediately. Archer arrives to find Phlox inspecting the corpse of Ensign Travis Mayweather.

T'Pol, Reed, Tucker, and two other crewmen arrive; the crewmen transport the body to sickbay, and Phlox follows. Archer questions his officers. Reed posts a security detail outside all areas under repair and investigates the communication logs; Trip talks to Hoshi about her dinner with Travis. T'Pol begins searching for Travis's parents. Archer returns to the station and requests information from the computer, which is unresponsive. He returns to the ship.

Phlox begins his post-mortem. (Travis is 72kg; he is 26 years old; he appears to have been killed by ventricular fibrillation induced by an isolytic shock; 12% of the body was burned.) Hoshi enters sickbay to say good-bye. She recounts to Dr. Phlox the gelatin practical joke Travis pulled a few weeks ago. Phlox comforts her, his explanation to her leading him to discover an anomaly in his readings: An isolytic shock shouldn't have harmed the microbes from the Rigennial fever innoculation--if anything, they should have multiplied--but all the microbes in the body are dead.

Reed enters Mayweather's quarters and begins inspecting his communication equipment, finding a letter to Travis's sister, but no evidence that Travis used the com system that evening. Archer arrives; Reed says it may be a while before T'Pol can track down the Mayweathers' cargo ship. Phlox calls Archer down to sickbay, revealing that the corpse is not Mayweather's body, but rather that of a replica of Mayweather. Phlox scans Archer and finds that the microbes in Archer's body are still alive; explains the problem. They deduce that the station may have abducted Travis and left a replica in his place. T'Pol locates Travis's parents.

Hoshi and Archer return to the bridge. Archer tells T'Pol to wait before contacting the Mayweathers. Archer asks Lt. Reed if he could get past the sensors on the station, to reach the core. T'Pol notes that the repairs are scheduled to be finished in 19 minutes and they will be expected to leave by then. In Engineering, Trip gets the warp plasma ready to move to the station, but Archer calls down and asks him to take his time. He arranges with Trip and Reed to have a remotely detonable explosive charge included with the "payment".

Repairs complete.

Trip wheels four 50L drums of warp plasma to the station's control room, where he begins complaining with the computer about the quality of its repairs. Meanwhile, Archer, T'Pol, and Reed enter the cooling ducts and begin to make their way toward the computer core. Trip asks to file a greivance. Reed stops just before the place he and Trip had been transported out last time. Archer and T'Pol take out their scanners and Reed goes forward, triggering the, iris, the transporter, and the alarm again. The Captain and Science Officer analyze their readings and fire their phase pistols at a spot along one of the walls, which blows off. In the control room, the computer interface retracts and Trip retreats. T'Pol manipulates an interface embedded in the wall and fires her phase postol at the nearly closed aperture, which causes it to dilate. Archer and she continue through to the core and find a chamber with over a dozen beings hooked into a computer (including at least one Klingon). The computer warns the Enterprise crewmen to leave the area or their ship will be compromised. T'Pol finds Travis's bio-signs, and notes that the others have suffered severe nerve damage.

T'Pol locates Travis several feet up; Archer climbs up a nearby support and pulls two tubes out of Mayweather's arms, spraying a red liquid across the unconscious helmsman's uniform. The station's arms begin grabbing and disassembling Enterprise; hull plating, weapons, communications, and impulse power go off-line in turn.

One of the ship's five plasma injectors is damaged by the station ["A Night in Sickbay"].
While it is possible that the injector was damaged after the episode, it being damaged by the station's attack is also quite likely. Since the exact cause and timing of the damage is not mentioned, this chronology assumes the station is the cause.

The station taps into the ship's computer and Hoshi is unable to isolate it from key sections of the computer core. Travis stirs as Archer carries him; the Captain and T'Pol fire at a hatch, which breaks open. They traverse the station's corridors and arrive back at Enterprise where Dr. Phlox and a bald crewman are waiting. Archer and T'Pol rush to the bridge. Main power and life support begin to fail. Reed triggers the explosive device, which causes major damage to the station; soon thereafter, the temperature aboard the station reaches 5400°F (3000°C) and secondary explosions occur throughout the station. The station loses control of Enterprise's computers and systems begin to come back on-line. One arm from the station remains attached to the hull, while explosions continue. Reed launches a torpedo against the arm, then a second, and Trip navigates out of the station's dock on impulse power with a piece of the arm still attached, though it falls away as the ship accelerates. The station explodes.

Phlox treats Mayweather and fills him in on the events after his abduction, removing and analyzing the equipment attached to him. Archer and T'Pol visit sickbay; Phlox informs them and Mayweather about the purpose of the station's implants. Archer invites Mayweather to breakfast.

Unobserved, the station begins to rebuild itself.

Enterprise spends five days in orbit; Archer apologizes for eating in front of Kreetassans several months earlier. Phlox sends the Human, Vulcan, and Beagle genomes to the Kreetassans to ensure their health. Archer, T'Pol, Hoshi, and Porthos spends twelve hours waiting on the surface of the planet. Porthos befouls an alvera tree, considered by the Kreetassans to be a cultural treasure. The Kreetassans order them to leave. They return to the ship and go through decontamination ["A Night in Sickbay"].

Episode 31: "A Night in Sickbay"

8:47pm: Ensign Hoshi Sato applies decon gel to Sub-Commander T'Pol, who does likewise to Captain Jonathan Archer, who does likewise to Porthos, his beagle. Phlox releases T'Pol and the Humans, but Porthos has to stay due to a pathogen he contracted on the surface of the planet.

Archer returns to his quarters and changes back into uniform. Phlox moves Porthos to sickbay and runs tests on him; he breaks down the pathogen's protein sequence.

9:09pm: Archer talks to Trip down in Engineering. Since the ship can run on four plasma injectors, they don't need a fifth, and Archer thinks the odds of losing another injector before the find another source is small. Trip urges Archer to try again.

T'Pol reaches the Kreetassan Chancellory, who tell her about Porthos and the alvera trees. She conveys Archer's sincerest apologies, and they consider acts of contrition.

Archer goes down to decon to find Phlox and Porthos. When he does not find them there, he goes to sickbay. Phlox says it's too early to tell if the pathogen is life-threatening.

Archer returns to the bridge; T'Pol asks him into his Ready Room to discuss the Kreetassan conversation. She tells Archer of Porthos' actions. Archer goes to his quarters and changes out of his uniform into nightwear.

10:32pm: Jon watches a water polo game and bounces his own polo ball against the wall of his quarters. He prepares for bed, but upon seeing Porthos's empty bed beside his own, he gathers a pillow and blanket, and heads for sickbay. He at first says he's come to cheer Porthos up, but when Phlox says Porthos probably wouldn't know he was there, he says it may cheer himself up. Phlox offers Jon his choice of beds, as none are in use. Jon inquires if there are dogs on Phlox's homeworld; Phlox says the Denobulan lemur is similar (tail, fur, usually one head) and sought-after. They discuss Phlox's medical expertise. Phlox says he has removed the pathogen, but wonders whether he will be able to stabilize Porthos's auto-immune system "before... but it's too early to be thinking about that." Jon addresses Porthos and lays down on a bed, drawing a curtain closed abound the bed.

Before long, he hears an electrical buzzing, and investigates the source of the sound: Phlox is trimming his toenails, which grow so rapidly he must groom them at least weekly. Jon returns to his bed, and Phlox feeds his toenails to one of his caged creatures. Later, a loud, wet slurping sound disturbs Jonathan's rest: Phlox is doing something to his incredibly long tongue. The captain finally drifts off to sleep.

T'Pol enters the gym and begins working out.

After about an hour of sleep, Jon is awakened by squeaks, squawks, and rattling cages. Jon tears his curtain to find Phlox feeding his animals. Realizing he won't be able to get much sleep, he sleaves sickbay, saying he'll return a couple hours later. Archer changes into workout clothing.

Appx. 11:30pm: The Kreetassans contact Enterprise and give Ensign Sato their list of reconciliation demands.

Day Two, 12:09am: Archer enters the guy and finds T'Pol running on the treadmill. He steps on a treadmill of his own and begins running. T'Pol inquires about Porthos's condition; Archer asks about the Kreetassans. The treadmills speed up. Archer practices apologizing. The treadmills speed up. T'Pol suggests Archer should not have brought Porthos; Archer says he had every right to take his dog to get some fresh air. The treadmills speed up. T'Pol questions Archer's priorities. T'Pol steps off the treadmill. Hoshi contacts T'Pol and mentions her conversation. She and Archer head for the bridge.

Hoshi hands the list to Archer, which he reads, and shrugs off. Archer returns to sickbay to try to get some rest. T'Pol and Hoshi read the list.

1:32am: Porthos goes into anaphylactic shock, and an alarm starts beeping, awakening Jonathan. Phlox instructs him to get 5cc's of tetrasol, a blue fluid. Jon loads the hypo and Phlox injects Porthos, who stabilizes. Phlox begins another treatment. Jon rants about the Kreetassans, and Phlox psychoanalyzes him. Jonathan gets upset and returns to bed.

T'Pol changes back into her standard uniform.

Appx. 2:30am: Hoshi contacts the Kreetassans again, offending the man she speaks to because she has not considered the local time in the capital city. It has been nearly three hours since they sent their list of demands. Hoshi goes to find the captain.

Meanwhile, Phlox's Pyrithian bat escapes its cage. Phlox tries to catch it and starts shouting in Denobulan, awakening Jon from his sleep. Phlox gives him a net and fetches a model of a Pyrithian moon hawk to scare the bat. Archer climbs a shelf and knocks over a jar of viscous fluid onto the doctor in his attempts to net the bird. Phlox says he's been noticing increased sexual tension between Archer and T'Pol over the past few months. Archer denies any attraction. The bat flies into the curtained medical beds and both Jon and Phlox try to catch it in their nets. Hoshi arrives from the bridge and catches the bat in her hand, which she hands back to Phlox. She informs Archer of her conversation with the Kreetassans, then heads back up to the bridge. Phlox tries to continue the previous conversation but Archer closes a curtain in his face and goes back to sleep, where he dreams...

Dream Sequence: Porthos has died. The entire senior staff gathers in a pet cemetery where it is raining. Phlox delivers a speech about Porthos and his love of cheese. Everybody except Archer is holding an umbrella; Archer stands in the rain. Phlox mentions that Porthos was named after the Musketeer. T'Pol leans in and holds Archer's hand. Phlox repeats his attraction speech. Back in the decon room six hours prior, with Hoshi gelling T'Pol gelling Archer gelling Porthos, Phlox calls. Hoshi answers and Phlox says she and Porthos can go, but T'Pol and Archer have a pathogen. T'Pol strips, then steps toward Archer; they gel each other and get closer. Phlox chimes in on the comm and asks why T'Pol's opinion is so important to Archer. They kiss, and...

2:49am: Archer wakes up. Phlox says the second treatment isn't going so well. Jon tells Phlox about Porthos's past. Phlox says the kidneys of the Denobulan lemur are a delicacy. T'Pol enters with two food trays, for Archer and Phlox. Archer snaps at T'Pol, then makes a freudiam slip. Phlox "hmm"s. Archer makes another freudian slip. T'Pol leaves, and Phlox mentions the "Pillarian slips". Porthos's alarm beeps; Phlox rushes over and finds that although his treatment was somewhat successful, it had the side effect of nearly destroying Porthos's pituitary gland. Archer fetches a blue-topped gray box which houses a Carlissian chameleon, then fills a large round basin with water. Phlox leaves the decision as to whether or not to perform an unprecedented operation, transplanting the chameleon's pituitary gland into Porthos after drowning the beagle for an hour, up to Jonathan.

Archer decides to go ahead with the procedure. Phlox drowns Porthos and begins the operation.

3:44am: While operating, Phlox chats with Jon about his feelings toward T'Pol. Archer hands the doctor an auto-suture. Phlox advises Archer not to tell T'Pol about his (hypothetical) feelings, nor to ignore them, but to be aware of the emotions. Archer lowers the temperature of the fluid in the tank by 21.6°F (12°C). Phlox jokes about Porthos being able to disguise himself when he's frightened. Archer gets the blue synaptic inductor for Phlox. Archer apologizes for his previous behavior.

The procedure concludes. Archer dresses for a trip to the surface, and he, T'Pol, Trip, and Hoshi take a Shuttlepod down. Archer performs the Rite of Diplomacy by, among other things, chainsawing the befouled alvera tree and reciting a speech. They return to the ship with the plasma injector, along with two spares. Trip installs the injector.

9:15am: Archer has breakfast in his Ready Room. T'Pol enters and reports on the operation of the plasma injector. Archer apologized to her for his behavior. She leaves. Archer visits sickbay and thanks Phlox for changing Archer's mind on going down to the surface. Jon visits with Porthos, who is sleeping. Phlox wakes the dog up and Archer takes him back to their quarters.

A few crewmen leave the ship ["The Expanse"], including Crewman Fuller (the woman who saw Archer enter T'Pol's quarters back in March ["Shockwave, Part II"). Replacements come aboard, including a new crewman also named Fuller, who works in the armory and learns the ship's weapons systems quickly ["Anomaly"].
While there are several possible explanations for why "Crewman Fuller" referred to a female in "Shockwave, Part II" (with no hint that there was another crewman by the same name) and a male in "Anomaly"--such as Crewman Fuller undergoing a sex-change operation--the one which seems to fit best is the one which uses events described in intermediate episodes to explain the situation.

Enterprise's universal translator is upgraded, and Hoshi is trained on the new system ["Exile"].

Between "The Expanse" and "The Xindi"

Hoshi begins studying the Vulcan database's information on medieval Klingon ["Exile"].

Enterprise encounters a freighter, whose captain tells Archer of a Xindi passenger he delivered to a mine a few years prior. It is the first lead the crew has gotten in the nearly six weeks they have been in the expanse thus far ["The Xindi"].

Night One: Trip arrives for a session with T'Pol, after cancelling two previous. He offers T'Pol a peach. She begins massaging Trip, but is interrupted by the Captain. Archer tells her about the planet the Xindi vessel most recently viisted, about a day away from their current position, and they set a course.

Night Two: The ship arrives and, after scanning the planet, Archer, Reed, T'Pol, and Hoshi come down in Shuttlepod One. They investigate another shuttle and two aliens they find dead nearby. The four Enterprise crewmen become infected, and the three Humans begin a metamorphosis into another race, while T'Pol becomes ill. T'Pol calls the ship warning them that something is affecting them. T'Pol uses Hoshi's universal translator and uses it to attempt communication with the creatures the other crewmen are turning into. On the ship, Trip works with Phlox and Mayweather to try to find out what happened to the others; Trip orders Mayweather to prepare Shuttlepod Two, and to use EVA suits.

Archer-Creature and the other transformed Humans take T'Pol in search of a place called Urquat. Reed finds a tree with wormy eggs and brings down two of them. Hoshi-Creature eats from one, while Reed-Creature and Archer-Creature fight over the other one, with Archer-Creature winning. He offers some of the egg to T'Pol, who declines. Reed-Creature shares some of Hoshi-Creature's egg.

Trip and Mayweather, along with MACOs Chang and Palmer, land on the planet with Shuttlepod Two and begin searching for the others, who hide. Chang is knocked out and Trip is attacked, but T'Pol prevents Archer-Creature from attacking him again. T'Pol orders Trip to take Reed-Creature back to the ship.

Morning Three?: Back on the ship, Phlox studies the creature formerly known as Malcolm and discovers that a mutagenic virus has attacked his DNA, altering it and therefore him. Two ships come out of warp and tell Trip that their ship is under quarantine.

Dream Sequence: Archer-Creature discovers Urquat, a city full of Loque'eque. He is confronted by Archer-Human.

The Alien captain comes aboard and studies Reed-Creature. He returns to his ship. Phlox tells Trip that they have only about two hours left before the virus completes its transformation; Trip rushes out to T'Pol's quarters and finds her bitten-into peach, which should have some of her original DNA. The Alien captain launches a shuttle to the surface.

Archer-Creature leads Hoshi-Creature and T'Pol to Urquat, which fell to ruins long ago. Hoshi-Creature is dismayed; Archer-Creature describes the gardens, the fountain, and the thousands of people who lived there. The Alien decon agents advance into the city and hunt down the three crewmen. Archer-Creature attacks one of the agents and tears his encounter suit. They leave the alien lying on the ground, and when his comrades find him, they flamethrower him to a crisp. Just as the Enterprise crew leave the caves, more decon agents find them and prepare to attack; Trip and security beam down and subdue the attackers.

Night One: Hoshi has a vision of Tarquin. T'Pol tells Archer about the second sphere. Hoshi asks Reed to check the security logs but he finds nothing unusual. T'Pol asks Hoshi to translate a portion of the Xindi database. Hoshi asks Phlox to examine her. Hoshi works in the command center with the Xindi database and has another vision of Tarquin in his palace. Reed arrives and startles out of her vision. Hoshi goes to Phlox again and he checks her again. Archer posts additional security around critical sections of the ship. Hoshi feeds Dr. Phlox's animals and has a third vision; Tarquin offers to help find the Xindi. Hoshi talks to the Captain, who decides to alter course to Tarquin's planet.

Morning Two: Hoshi, Reed, and Archer take a shuttlepod down to Tarquin's castle. Tarquin introduces himself and asks for an item from the Xindi; he says he will need a few days to study the item, and he'd like Hoshi to stay with him. The Starfleet crew return to Enterprise and discuss Tarquin's request; they decide Hoshi can stay, and go back to the planet with a piece of the Xindi weapon that attacked Earth.

Night Two: Tarquin has dinner with Hoshi, offering her pepperoni pizza, macaroni and cheese, a cheeseburger and fries, and a dessert from another planet. Hoshi retires for the evening, and he offers her a book written in a dead language to give her something to do.

Day Three: Enterprise approaches the second sphere, and anomalies pulse throughout the ship. Trip begins coating a shuttlepod with Trellium-D, a process that will take about 36 hours to complete.

Night Three: Hoshi approaches Tarquin and he offers to let her use his telepathy orb. She sees images from her memory, as well as an image of a Xindi-Reptilian who turns to look at her, startling her out of the experience. Hoshi looks through the gardens. Seeing a glass door, she goes through and finds herself outside in a cemetery. Tarquin explains his that four previous companions died due to old age. Hoshi is aghast that Tarquin plans to make her his next companion.

Night Four: Trip and Archer launch in Shuttlepod One, the coating process complete. The pod penetrates the cloaking field around the sphere, though the sensors are damaged. Archer lands on the sphere to let Trip repair the pod. While working, the port thruster ignites; Trip and Archer fire at the shuttle; they conduct their scans and return to the ship. Enterprise heads back to Tarquin's world. Log entry.

Day Five: Archer contacts Tarquin, letting him know Enterprise will arrive soon. Hoshi sees Archer, who tries to persuade Hoshi to stay, but she realizes that he is Tarquin in disguise. In orbit, Enterprise tries to contact Hoshi but the power is drained from all systems. Hoshi threatens the telepathy orb, and Tarquin releases control of Enterprise. Log entry.

Night Five: T'Pol analyzes the data from the scans and discovers that there are at least fifty spheres in the Expanse, maybe more. Tarquin appears to Hoshi one last time, telling her about a base constructing part of the Xindi weapon and giving her the coordinates.

Before the 31st Century

Presumes that Daniels went to high school before the time-jumps in "Shockwave" and "Shockwave, Part II"; probably, but with time travel, anything's possible.

Daniels goes back in time to serve aboard Enterprise as a steward [Shockwave, "Cold Front"].
According to the Shockwave novelization, Daniels' trip back happened before he pulled Archer forward.

31st Century

Episode 26: "Shockwave" [time travel]

Original Timeline: Daniels has lunch, and the world is fine. Daniels brings Jonathan Archer forward from 2152.

Altered Timeline: The world is a mess. Archer arrives from the 22nd Century ["Shockwave"]; Daniels and his associates brought him forward in time in order to protect the timeline, to keep him out of Silik's hands ["Shockwave, Part II"].

Episode 27: "Shockwave, Part II" [time travel]

Altered Timeline: Daniels and Archer research history at the library, and find that history matches up to the original timeline until the Warp Five Program; Daniels decides that he must send Archer back in order to restore his history. He asks for Archer's communicator and, along with Archer's scanner and some supplies scavenged from the city's ruins, makes a temporal communicator based on what he learned in high school. However, without a quantum discriminator, he can't guarantee that the communication will go to the exact day Archer was taken. He eventually narrows it down to one day after Archer left, and the Captain is able to communicate with T'Pol.

Altered Timeline: Archer is contacted from the past by Silik; Archer is able to trick Silik into boosting the power on the device from Daniels' quarters on Enterprise to the extent that Archer is able to return to the past.
