From startrek.com:
His name is Emory Erickson, and in the story, he comes aboard Enterprise to test a radical new upgrade to the transporter technology he created a few decades back. He calls it "subquantum teleportation," and he believes it will render starships obsolete. But as the story unfolds, it turns out there is more to his visit than just research.
The title "Daedalus" refers directly to the legendary inventor in Greek mythology who built the Labyrinth and artificial wings for himself and his son Icarus. The name is used metaphorically in reference to Erickson.
The original writing credits were announced as "Alan Brennert & Ken LaZebnik", but aired with Alan's pseudonym, as "Ken LaZebnik & Michael Bryant".
